Practice merger

Kapur Family Care/The Surgery Merger

As from March 26th 2018 we propose to merge The Surgery with Kapur Family Care.

All our current reception and admin staff will continue to be part of the new larger practice.

Our GPs will be:

Dr. Janet Day, Dr. Tahir Ghuman, Dr. Peter Cains, Dr. Shanaz Kauser, Dr. Elizabeth Pooley.

You will also have access to 3 additional GP trainee Doctors, a nurse prescriber, two more practices Nurses and a Nursing Assistant.

We think that this new enlarged practice will be better able to respond to your needs and provide timely, quality care into the future.

If you have any comments or feedback about the proposed merger then please speak to the Practice Manager.

Missed Appointments

We are horrified to have to say that we had 526 failed appointments in the first Three months of the year.

That’s over 175 on average each month.

This means that over 29 hours of a Doctor time is wasted every single week by those of you who make appointments and then don’t bother to turn up or cancel.

It also means that 526 of you could have had an appointment if they weren’t being blocked by someone who doesn’t really need it.

Many of you ask us why we cannot make more appointments available; here is a large part of the reason why!

Please, please don’t book an appointment unless you really plan to arrive for it. If you need to cancel let the practice know…..either by telephoning or using our website www.kapurfamilycare.co.uk , or by using our text service. You can cancel appointments at any time day or night.

GP Earnings

All GP practices are required to declare the mean earnings (e.g. average pay) for GPs working to deliver NHS services to patients at each practice.

The average pay for GPs working in Kapur Family Care in the last financial year was £113,329 before tax and National Insurance.  This is for 3 full time GPs, who worked in the practice for more than six months.

Patient Facing Services (formerly patient access)

This service lets you order your prescriptions on line, book and cancel your appointments, update your contact information and also view your medical records, it even has a smart phone app so you can do all this on the move at any time! To access this service you will first need to register online at paient.emisaccess.co.uk you can either do this with a letter of registration from reception or you can go directly to the website and register without the letter, this is the quickest way to do it and you will then just have to wait it you’re your registration has been accepted by the surgery—usually same day if working day.

In order to view your medical records you will need to undergo some additional security checks  to maintain patient confidentially and security of your records.
